Control (2007)

Ok, so anyone who knows me know that i'm a fan of the band Joy Divsion and i've been listening to them since i was a teen. Although they didn't truly become my favorite band until i saw Control on my 20th birthday
Anyway, on to the review.
It should be pretty obvious what this film is about. You follow around Ian's life before Joy Divison was formed right to his suicide on May 18th 1980. Pretty simple really.
Like all of my top ten favorite movies. The soundtrack to this is awesome (containing not just Joy Division but also David Bowie). The acting from Sam Riley is great and he nails down the late epiletic Ian perfectly. Samantha Morton is also good as his wife Debbie. Shot in beautiful black and white like many of the band's photos this movie will haunt you. Another thing that should be obvious is its downer ending as Ian finally succumbs to his unfortunate suicide and the discovery of this by his wife. With screams and tears the film closes with personally i think is their best track "Atmosphere". An ending which i still see in my head from time to time.
I give it an Eight out of ten.
